We returned to find mom enjoying the sunset.

The full moon rises over the mountains. . . 

There is something so cozy about a campfire: you and your family around its own little circle of light in the darkness, cheerful and glowing. 

We ended the evening with s'mores and warm conversation around the campfire. 

In the morning, a cool fog hovered over the campground. 

Mom is an expert at making pancakes on the Coleman stove! 

Joel and Dad enjoy the morning campfire with their coffee. 

We decided to take a nature tour of the lake. 

We took a closer look at the lacy lichen. 

The contrast between the green north-facing slope and the desert south-facing slope is dramatic.

Next, a lovely picnic beneath the oak tree. 

We took a little ride after our picnic, and tested our new-found knowledge of the flora and fauna.
